Shore Medical Center Names Sterile Processing Technician Kathy Carty of Somers Point its November Employee of the Month

Shore Medical Center recently named Sterile Processing Technician Kathy Carty its November Employee of the Month for consistently delivering outstanding service and embodying the organization's mission, vision, and values.

A resident of Somers Point, Carty began her journey at Shore in 1997 as a housekeeper in the Environmental Services Department. In 2002, she transitioned to the Sterile Processing Department, where she has since played a critical role in ensuring patient safety. Her responsibilities include preparing and verifying the cleanliness, functionality, and inventory of medical instruments, decontaminating and reprocessing reusable equipment, and following strict sterilization standards and best practices.

Henry Guzman, Sterile Processing Supervisor, says, “Kathy always strives for excellence in every task to achieve the highest quality work. She takes the time to mentor new employees, embodies Shore’s mission and values, and fosters a spirit of teamwork in our department. Thanks to her meticulous efforts, surgeons have the instruments they need to deliver exceptional surgical care, and our patients benefit from improved outcomes. Kathy is highly respected and valued by her colleagues—we’re truly fortunate to have her.”

During the presentation, Administrative Director of Surgical Services Dr. Leonard Galler commended Carty for her efforts, saying, “Our surgeons simply could not do what they do without you and the important role you play.”

Outside of work, Carty enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
