Shore Medical Center announced today that Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse Kelly Dwyer, RN, BSN, of Egg Harbor City, has been named its June Guardian Angel of the Month for her dedication and commitment to Shore’s patients. The Guardian Angel program was established to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Dwyer began her career at Shore Medical Center in 2012 as a nurse aid on the spine and orthopedic unit, and then obtained her RN certification in August 2018, when she began her career as an ICU nurse.
Jennifer Young, ICU Nurse Manager, says, “Kelly is an outstanding employee who is highly skilled and can connect with her patients and families. She always works to make things better for everyone, both patients and staff.”
Recently, the family of a patient Dwyer cared for made a Guardian Angel donation to Shore in her honor. They said, “Kelly cared for our loved one in her final days. She graced us with a calm, genuinely reassuring demeanor when she spoke to her. We will never forget the kind compassionate care that was provided by all of the ICU angels, but Kelly’s nursing spirit will touch us forever. Thank you Kelly for being our Guardian Angel.”
Outside of work, Dwyer is working toward obtaining her Masters of Science loves spending time with her nieces, and Philadelphia sports – especially the Eagles and the Phillies.
Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
