Shore Medical Center Names Electrician Matthew Weitz its February Employee of the Month

Shore Medical Center recently named Electrician Matthew Weitz its February 2026 Employee of the Month for consistently delivering outstanding service and embodying the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

A resident of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Weitz joined Shore in November 2023 in the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department. As an electrician, he is responsible for installing and repairing electrical systems, nurse call systems, fire alarm systems, and addressing electrical issues throughout the hospital and surrounding offices. His work plays a critical role in ensuring the Medical Center meets or exceeds all electrical safety requirements and maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Robert Kirschner, Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance and Weitz’s supervisor, says he consistently demonstrates technical expertise and a strong commitment to the organization.

“Matt routinely uses his skills as an electrician to assure the hospital meets or exceeds all electrical safety requirements,” Kirschner said. “He is quick to respond to any emergency situation, assess the issue, and resolve the problem. Additionally, Matt has shown a willingness to take on larger projects to benefit the hospital.”

Kirschner highlighted Weitz’s contributions to several significant projects, including working closely with maintenance team members to support the timely installation of the new mammography unit, the new CT scanner, and the new X-ray unit in the Emergency Department. His skill and knowledge helped ensure these projects were completed efficiently and resulted in meaningful cost savings for the hospital.

“He is a dedicated employee who is recognized for his skill and professionalism,” Kirschner added. “He is well respected by his peers and fellow employees. Matt is a tremendous asset to the Maintenance Department.”

Weitz is married and the proud father of one son. Outside of work, he spends much of his free time at the hockey rink cheering on his son.
