Shore Names Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine Clinical Coordinator Jannine Bournias, APRN, AGNP-C, its June Guardian Angel of the Month

Shore Medical Center announced today that Jannine Bournias, APRN, AGNP-C, of Ocean City, has been named its June Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say 'thank you' to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.

Bournias began her career at Shore Medical Center as a nurse in 2012. She went back to school to become a nurse practitioner and joined the Palliative Care team in 2019 after earning her degree.

Dr. Daniel Jacoby, medical director of palliative care, says, “Jannine is a dedicated and empathetic nurse practitioner in palliative care, known for her deep compassion and unwavering commitment to her patients. She forms strong, meaningful connections with those she cares for, offering comfort through both her presence and clinical expertise. Through comprehensive evaluations and a holistic approach, Jannine earns the respect of colleagues and families alike.”

A patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Bournias’ honor and had this to say about her:

“My mother of 97 years had a bad fall. It was recommended that we speak to someone on the Palliative Care team, that’s when we met Jannine. She was a true professional that was so kind and compassionate. Jannine advocated for my mother while guiding my brother and I. We are forever grateful for the guidance, care and respect my mother was given.”

Shore Medical Center's Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore's annual pinning ceremony.
