Why Jeanmarie Mason Finds Joy at Shore Cancer Center

Jeanmarie Mason arrived at Shore Cancer Center for her monthly injection recently, wearing a big smile and a bright blue t-shirt emblazoned on the front with "Metastatic Breast Cancer Warrior." Although the treatment is not pleasant, she was still happy to be there with some of her favorite people – including outpatient services representative Julie Roche, pictured above (left), and her oncologist Dr. Tiffany Pompa (right).

Keep up with Screenings- It Could Save Your Life

Cancer screenings look for cancer before symptoms appear and can help detect cancer at an early stage. When early-stage cancers are discovered, there are more treatment options available. Also, there is a better chance of removing the cancer before it spreads. Cancer screening could save your life.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), men and women should receive cancer screenings as they age. Please consult with your healthcare provider about how to proceed with cancer screenings that are appropriate for you.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Shore Mammographer Marian Martello Takes the Fear out of Breast Imaging

As Shore’s lead mammographer for the past six years, Marian Martello is beyond happy with her career. She has found a fulfilling field that lets her make a positive difference in the lives of patients every day.

While she loves the science behind mammography, for Martello, there are two other aspects of her work she loves the most – alleviating her patients’ fears, and seeing her breast cancer patients beat the disease.

Lower Your Cancer Risk by Cutting Back on Processed and Red Meat

In today’s world, it’s easy to wind up eating far more red or processed meat than we should. Whether it’s a daily bacon and egg sandwich at the drive-through, the pulled pork you make regularly on the backyard smoker, a charcuterie board packed with imported prosciutto, the convenience store beef jerky, or deli sandwiches in the children’s lunch boxes, processed and red meat is everywhere.

For Joseph Libby, Penn Connection Makes Choosing Shore Cancer Center a "No-Brainer"

Relaxing in a comfortable chair and surrounded by a group of his new friends, Joseph A. Libby, Sr., felt like a king. Though their smiles were covered with surgical masks, the joy on their faces shone brightly in their eyes and facial expressions. It was as if everyone was sharing a special moment at a family reunion.

While it was not exactly a party, it was, in fact, a special occasion. Joe had just completed his second to last radiation treatment at Shore Cancer Center.
