Shore Medical Center is proud to recognize Barbara Zarrella, RN, as its May 2016 Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore’s patients. Shore established the Guardian Angel Program to enable patients to say thank you to a special caregiver through a donation to Shore Medical Center.
Zarrella began working as a nurse in Shore’s Emergency Department just one year ago after relocating to the area from Connecticut. In a short time, Barbara’s commitment to excellence has made a positive impact on the ED.
“Barbara brings with her a wealth of knowledge and new and innovative ways to improve the quality of care we provide to our patients,” said Annmarie Guerrieri, RN, BSN, Nurse Manager of Telemetry, Emergency Department & Pediatrics. “Her patients are her number one priority, but she also is a dedicated team player and a pleasure to work with. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to do whatever is needed to support the patients as well as her department.”
A patient of Zarrella’s recently wrote to Shore to thank her for her efforts. “Barbara provided me with wonderful care in my time of need. Her quick actions and caring attitude made me feel safe,” the patient said.
Zarrella lives in Ocean City with her husband and enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren.
The Guardian Angel program recognizes anyone who works at Shore Medical Center and makes an impact and difference in a patient's care. Guardian Angels are recognized amongst their peers and are presented with a special Guardian Angel pin at Shore Medical Center’s annual pinning ceremony. If you, a family member or friend would like to honor a Shore Medical Center Guardian Angel, please contact the Shore Medical Center Foundation at 609-653-3800.
