Lab Assistant Desirée Barimah Named Shore Medical Center’s March 2016 Employee of the Month

April 14, 2016

For consistently delivering outstanding patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Lab Assistant Desirée Barimah has been named the medical center’s March 2016 Employee of the Month.

Barimah, of Galloway Township, joined Shore Medical Center in June of 1999 as a phlebotomist and became a lab assistant three years later, a position she holds today.  As a lab assistant, Barimah’s main responsibility is drawing blood from patients for testing. Knowing most people don’t enjoy needles, Barimah approaches every patient with compassion and sensitivity, which makes all the difference in the patient’s experience.

Barimah not only gives her best effort with her patients, she is also a great team player who always searches for ways the department can improve its processes. She takes it upon herself to serve as a mentor for new employees in her department.

“She is my right hand,” says Tina Angelo, Shore’s Phlebotomy and Lab Assistant Supervisor. “I can count on her for anything.”

Barimah is honored to be selected as Employee of the Month.

“I am doing a job I love, with people who all come together for a common cause. Shore is like my home away from home, and my coworkers are my extended family.”
