Shore Medical Center and Unidine Introduce MyDine Innovative High Tech Touch In-Room Dining

November 18, 2015

Wireless tablet technology enables real time, freshly prepared meals.

Shore Medical Center and its dining services provider, Unidine, have announced the introduction of MyDine, an industry leading in-room dining experience that blends personal attention from a Guest Services Representative (GSR) with wireless tablet technology to enhance the patient experience. Shore Medical Center is the first Unidine partner hospital in the mid-Atlantic to offer MyDine service.

MyDine provides a critical link between a patient’s medical staff and dining services through a GSR. As the central figure for the entire patient dining experience, from initial contact through meal service, the GSR works closely with nurses, dietitians and chefs to ensure that all patient dietary requirements are addressed.

“MyDine takes the idea of room service for hospitals to a much higher level by integrating technology and personal contact,” said Robert Robertson, Administrative Director Logistics for Shore Medical Center. “We are proud to be the first hospital in this region to offer this type of service, and we are already seeing the impact with better communication, less waste, more choices, and most importantly, higher patient satisfaction and an enhanced patient dining experience.”

Guest Service Representatives at Shore Medical carry tablets with proprietary software that continuously updates patient diet requirements, allergies and preferences so each patient receives a customized menu selection, including daily specials. Orders are transmitted to state-of-the-art touch screen systems in the kitchen, where they are prepared freshly to order to match each patient's specifications.

Unidine launched MyDine in 2011 at Metro Health Hospital in Michigan and today it is being used in hospitals in New England and the Midwest. Unidine was the first food service company to commit to fresh ingredients and scratch cooking which improves the nutritional value and food quality for hospital, senior living and corporate client partners.
