Nurses Aide Fernando Perez Named Shore Medical Center’s December 2012 Employee of the Month

December 18, 2012

For consistently delivering outstanding, patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s Mission, Vision and Values, Shore is proud to announce that Nurses Aide Fernando Perez has been named the medical center’s December 2012 Employee of the Month.

Perez joined Shore in October of 2009 as a Patient Companion, quickly pursuing his certification as a Nurses Aide. After spending time on Shore’s Float Team, Perez joined the staff of the medical center’s 5th Stainton unit.

Perez’ co-workers said he embodies the Spirit of Shore, a team player who is always willing to assist others. Perez was nominated by Luanne McGroarty, BSN, RN-BC, manager of 5th Stainton, who said he consistently goes the extra mile to exceed his patients’ expectations.

“When rounding, patients tell me that they wish he did not have that day off,” said McGroarty. “They feel a sense of comfort when he is here, comforted by knowing he will be there to help care for them.”

Perez lives in Somers Point, NJ. He said he is grateful for his recognition, but was quick to applaud his co-workers for the work they do to help him succeed in his position.

“I always talk to my co-workers about the value of teamwork, and the importance of working together in order to put the needs of our shared patients first,” he said.
